Kajaji Senior High School (KAJASS) organized a general cleaning and inspection competition on 1st August, 2026. The exercise was successful and enjoyable for both students and teachers.
The idea for the competition came after the housemasters met on 30th July, 2026. They noticed that many students had been falling sick, especially with malaria, which is caused by mosquito bites. They decided to organize a cleaning competition to encourage students to keep the school clean and healthy.
The competition involved all the four houses in the school:
House One (1): Efeda
House Two (2): Gyaba
House Three (3): Gyinata
House Four (4): Betwor
The competition started at 4:30 a.m. and ended at 12:00 noon. The Senior Housemaster, Mr. Abochi, together with the other housemasters, inspected all the houses. Marks were awarded based on cleanliness, orderliness, and proper arrangement of the houses.
All the students worked very hard because every house wanted to become the cleanest house in the school. The competition also helped students learn the importance of keeping their surroundings clean.
On Monday, 3rd August, 2026, the results were announced during the school assembly. The final positions were:
Betwor House (House Four) – 1st Place
Efeda House (House One) – 2nd Place
Gyaba House (House Two) – 3rd Place
Gyinata House (House Three) – 4th Place
The announcement brought excitement to the whole school. Members of the winning house celebrated their victory, while the other houses promised to work harder in the next competition.
The House Prefect of Betwor House, Joel Makibe, said:
"I am very happy that our house won the competition. At first, I was not sure we could win, but through hard work and teamwork, we made it."
The School Health Prefect, Maanik Balenbu Williams, also expressed his happiness. He said:
"This competition will help reduce sickness in the school because students will keep their surroundings clean. It will also reduce my work of attending to sick students."
Although his house did not win, he appreciated the school authorities for organizing such an important competition. He encouraged all students to continue keeping the school environment clean.
The competition was a great success, and many students hope it will be organized every term to promote cleanliness and good health in the school.
